IVT schedules auditions for ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’

Indian Valley Theatre will host auditions for “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13. The show is directed by Michele Wade.

Auditions will be in the Community Room at the Sandwich Opera House, 140 E. Railroad St. in Sandwich, and are open to the public. Jen Ketchum has been chosen as assistant director. Producers will be Gordon Schumpert and Sharon Pagoria.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. No appointment is necessary and IVT membership is not needed to audition, although it will be required if cast.

The cast will include as many as 30 adults and children ranging in age from 9 to 99. Children must be able to read. Many crew members also will be needed.

“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” is a fairy-tale play based on the story of the Brothers Grimm and written by Jessie Braham White. It is not the Disney version.áIn this famous story, Snow White supposedly is disposed of by the wicked queen. She finds her way to a happy glen and the home of seven friendly dwarfs. A deadly apple casts her into a deep sleep, from which she is revived just in time by her devoted prince.

Performances of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” will be in March at the Sandwich Opera House.
