BIG ROCK

25th annual Community
Interfaith Crop Walk

2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at Big Rock Community Park, Rhodes Avenue and Sixth Street in Big Rock. Sign-in is at 1:15 and the walk will step off at 2 p.m. Churches in Sandwich, Somonauk, Leland, Hinckley and Big Rock will participate. Locally, the walk helps the Hinckley Food Pantry and Our Sharing Pantry in Sandwich. Information: www.crophungerwalk.org

MILLBROOK

Harvest Breakfast

7 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Millbrook United Methodist Church, 8360 Fox River Drive. The church will serve an all-you-can-eat meal of pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and hash browns. Coffee and juice are included. A donation of $8 is requested.

Rummage Sale

5:15 p.m. reception, 6 p.m. dinner Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Grandma’s Table Restaurant, 1700 Douglas Road. Dinner includes a choice of three entrées (fish, chicken or beef), soup or salad, dinner rolls, vegetables, dessert and nonalcoholic drink. Cost is $20. A lower-cost salad entrée can be purchased for $12. The speaker will be Chris Baker, a tattoo artist with a studio in Oswego. He will present “The Ministry of Second Chances Through Tattoo Removal.”

New Life for Old Bags

North St. Volunteers turn discarded plastic shopping bags into plastic yarn to be crocheted into sleeping mats for the homeless. Donations of plastic bags can be left at the library. Scrap Metal Collection

Community Shred Day
