Plano Rotary Club is seeking new community interaction and encourages the public to learn more about club membership as it commemorates 75 years of community involvement, service and contribution.
The motto of Rotary International is “Service Above Self.” Rotary, established in 1905, is an international association to connect people who then work together to solve community problems, to provide humanitarian aid, and to promote goodwill and peace.
Plano Rotary Club meetings are held over the lunch hour and offer members a professional networking opportunity and intriguing guest speakers, as well as community news.
Rotary contributions to Plano include the funding of two scholarships for graduating high school students, sponsoring the Plano High School Interact Club, funding shelterboxes to provides shelter for disaster victims, maintaining the Cook Woods natural environment for use by the Boy Scouts and other youth groups, partnering with the Fox Valley Family YMCA to develop a community park, and making annual contributions to several local funds such as the Plano Community Garden, Kendall County Community Food Pantry, the Friends of the Library, Plano’s Rockin’ Christmas, Kendall County CASA, and the World Resource Food Bank.
