ABATE recently hosted a ride in memory of Steve Gaw, a 25-year Open Roads ABATE member who passed away from cancer in November. Gaw was an active member in the chapter, participating in rides, car shows, Summer Book committee, motorcycle awareness, windshield washing, and the downed rider program, and was road captain during the past year. The ride took place Saturday, June 8. A ceremony in memory of Gaw took place, a patch was given to all participating family and ABATE members, a plaque was dedicated in Gaw’s memory by his family and many people spoke how they remembered Gaw. The group then rode to some of Gaw’s favorite places. Pictured are (front row) Sally Kolb, Steve’s niece Charlie McCannon, Gaw’s sister Susan McCannon, with plaque, Steve’s cousin Bryan Needham, Beth Fannin, Judy Busch, Kevin and Barb Rife, Cherie Mauer, Cliff Oleson, (back row)áKevin and Patti Smith, Bill Kolb, Frank Lorang, Larry and Merrie Zastresek, Mitch Busch, Bob Mauer, Henry Herbst and John Niles.
