'How to Be A Viking' program returning to Yorkville Library

The fifth annual "How to Be A Viking" children's workshop, Norwegian stories, games and cuisine will be held from 10 a.m. to noon July 8, 10 and 12 at Yorkville Public Library, 902 Game Farm Road in Yorkville.

School-age children are invited. Admission is free.  The theme is “Celebrating Syttendemai,” Norwegian constitution day. 

The workshop is sponsored by Sons of Norway, a Norwegian-American cultural group. Returning as instructors are Barb Johnson of Yorkville and and Connie Kross of Sandwich. Johnson is a member of SON Polar Star Lodge of Montgomery; Cross is a member of SON Cleng Peerson Lodge of Norway, Ill.    

Registration for the July 8 session is closed. Registration is open for the July 10 and 13 sessions. Visit yorkville.lib.il.us to register online.

Activities for campers will include making trolls and Viking helmets and shields.
