A standing-room-only crowd gathered May 29 at the DeKalb County Community Foundation to receive the funds raised during Give DeKalb County. This 24-hour philanthropic giving day is coordinated by the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership, which is a program of the DeKalb County Community Foundation.

“Give DeKalb County reached new heights in 2019,” said Ben Bingle, DCNP director. “In only 24 hours, 4,352 donations were made to the 104 participating organizations and funds. A portion of these donations were matched by our 32 community partners, resulting in $751,050 raised for the nonprofit community.”

In its sixth year, Give DeKalb County had the most participating nonprofits, the most donations, the highest number of donors and the largest amount raised during the May 2 giving day.

A total of 1,901 donors of all ages gave back during the event and donations came in from 43 different states and four countries.

Michelle Donahoe, executive director of the DeKalb County History Center and Give DeKalb County committee chairwoman, was excited by the results. “May 2 was another amazing day for DeKalb County's nonprofits thanks to Give DeKalb County. We are very appreciative of donors, small and large, who make this event so successful," Donahoe said.

“It is incredible to see people come together through Give DeKalb County,” Bingle said. “This is a special event and we are grateful to all who made it so successful this year.”
