LELAND

Mini Meat Loaf Dinner

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at Leland United Methodist Church, 280 N. Locust St. The meal will include mini meat loaf, au gratin potatoes, corn, coleslaw, cakes for dessert, with coffee, lemonade, iced tea or water. A minimum donation of $8 is suggested. Carryouts will be available by calling the church at 815-496-376 after 9:30 a.m. May 8.

NEWARK

P.E.O. Garage Sale

8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at Meadowlands Farm, 13820 County Line Road. Look for signs on Route 71. This large indoor sale is sponsored by P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) Chapter FO Sandwich. A homemade lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Dickson-Murst Spring at the Farm

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at Dickson-Murst Farm, 2550 Dickson Road. Members of the Newark FFA will bring their project animals –horses, chickens, cows, pigs, sheep and goats. Drive-thru Barbecue

4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 10, at the Fern Dell Museum, 9 E. Front St. 5-B’s will cook chicken and pork chops. Cost is $13 for a half chicken, two pork chops or a combo with three sides and a dinner roll. Drive up, place your order, then drive away with dinner. New Life for Old Bags

North St. Volunteers turn discarded plastic shopping bags into plastic yarn to be crocheted into sleeping mats for the homeless. Donations of plastic bags can be left at the library. Adult Craft Night
