Larry French has been elected to serve on the board of directors at Open Door Rehabilitation Center in Sandwich.

French and his brother owned and operated Village Ace Hardware in Sandwich for more than 33 years. After retiring, Larry took a maintenance position at Open Door, and then retired a second time.

French brings valuable experience to the board, from his many years as a community leader and a business owner. In addition, he has a unique understanding of Open Door, from an employee’s point of view.

Open Door provides programs and services that focus on “Opening Doors and Developing Opportunities” for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This nonprofit organization operates a day workshop, a vocational training facility and nine group homes, all within the Sandwich community. The 125 individuals served are from Kendall, LaSalle and DeKalb counties.
