The new Illinois Driver Services Facility at 236 Mitchell Drive in Plano opened for business Tuesday, Feb. 26.
The new facility is about 3,600 square feet, more than double the size of the old facility. The former longtime local facility at 712 E. South St., closed after business Saturday, Feb. 23.
“The new facility in Plano is conveniently located – approximately a mile and a half from the former facility – and is much more spacious to better accommodate the growing population of Plano and the surrounding communities,” Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White said in a statement.
White said his office has been working with the landlord of the Mitchell Drive location who, as part of the five-year lease agreement, is in charge of making necessary modifications to the building.
These modifications, standard when opening a Driver Services facility at a new site, are designed to maximize the facility’s traffic flow and efficiency.
