Jam Session

6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Millbrook United Methodist Church, 8360 Fox River Road. Hosted by the Northern Illinois Bluegrass Association, the evening of music, snacks and fun is free. Listen to local musicians playing banjos, guitars, violins, mandolins and bass cello, solo and in small groups.

Each month includes a speaker who presents on topics of interest to the community. Past topics have included taxes, senior citizen programs, political perspectives and conservation issues. 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at Millbrook United Methodist Church, 8360 Fox River Road. Howard Manthei of Yorkville will present “The Beginning, Golden Age of the Accordion”. Along with playing popular selections, he will narrate a slide show tracing the history of the accordion.

Dick Cole Memorial Breakfast

7 to 11 a.m. Sunday, March 3, at the Plano American Legion, 510 E. Dearborn St. Quad County Hawg Hunters Muskies Inc. will host the all-you-can-eat meal. Menu includes biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, potatoes, pancakes, french toast, orange juice, milk and coffee. Cost is $8 for adults and $6 for seniors and ages 6 to 12. Children age 5 and younger eat for free.
