SANDWICH – A service agency for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities announced the beginning of this year's annual membership drive.

Donations provided for the Open Door Rehabilitation Center membership drive will directly fund the outstanding programs and services that Open Door provides its clients.

Open Door is a nonprofit organization that operates residential and day programs for 125 clients living in DeKalb, LaSalle and Kendall counties. The residential program includes 24-hour care in nine group homes within the Sandwich community and support services for clients who live in private housing.

Day programming is comprised of a day training workshop and an employment workshop, where vocational skills are taught and individuals are given the chance to earn a wage.

Donations will help to fund a wide spectrum of activities and services at Open Door, such as job skills training, cooking classes and field trips. Contributions also provide transportation to doctor visits, groceries for nine group homes, new shoes and toiletries for clients and tickets to sporting events for group social outings.

Membership contributions may be made online at odrc.org or sent to Open Door, Membership Drive, 405 S. Wells St., Sandwich, IL 60548.
