Festive cookies, holly candies, breads, pumpkin rolls and many tasty treats – all in time for the holidays – will be available for sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 7 at Northwestern Medicine Valley West Hospital, 1302 N. Main St. in Sandwich.
The event, sponsored by Northwestern Medicine Valley West Hospital Auxiliary members, has been a yearly fundraiser, a gala of sorts, for more than 10 years. Plates of three dozen cookies will be sold for $8.
“Recipes come from Grandmas’ cookie jars, private collections and even some with international flare,” Holiday Treasures chairwoman Linda Neises said in a news release.
Additionally, hospital employees lend their support to this fundraiser by assembling gift baskets for raffle.
“Individual departments collect items – often themed – and wrap them in decorated containers. Past themes have included ‘Game Night,’ ‘Eat Healthy,’ ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ and ‘Elf Holiday.’ These baskets are full of surprises,” Melva Sebby, fundraising chairwoman, said in the release.
The raffle items are on display in the hospital lobby beginning Monday. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and are sold in the hospital gift shop, Unique Boutique. Drawings are set for 2 p.m. Dec. 7.
Membership in the auxiliary is open to all adults living in areas served by Northwestern Medicine Valley West Hospital. Additionally, the hospital gift shop is looking for volunteers to assist in sales at the boutique. For information, call Auxiliary President Sue Husar at 815-498-9961.
