Toy, food run benefits local charities

Open Roads ABATE of IL Chapter and American Legion Riders from Sandwich Post 181 participated in the 32nd annual DuKane ABATE of IL Chapter Toy and Food Run on Oct. 14. Group members met local and state politicians including Gov. Bruce Rauner, listened to bands, enjoyed the food, and supported many local charities including Mutual Ground, Illinois Department of Children and Family Services – Elgin, Family Shelter Service, Elburn Food Pantry/St Vincent DePaul Pantry, HELPS Ministry, Aurora Soup Kitchen Inc., Breaking Free Inc., Aunt Martha’s Youth Services, Lutheran Family Services, and Fox Valley Christian Action. Members of Open Roads ABATE and American Legion Riders Post 181 included Bob Mauer, Bob Lawrence, Fred Chaffer, Connie and Juan Jaquez, Henry Herbst, Frank Lorang, Cliff Oleson, and Ralph and Karla Torres.
