SOMONAUK – Heartland Bank and Trust Co. in Somonauk presented its 2018 Heart of Our Community award to Jerry Lundeen at the October Business After-Hours. This award was established to recognize local residents who have stood out for volunteering their time and talent to help others.
The Heart of Our Community award was presented by Ashley Copeland, retail manager for Heartland Bank. The bank recognizes its responsibility extends beyond providing financial services to the communities they serve.
“We strongly believe the ongoing success of a community involves good corporate citizenship and making a difference in the lives of others,” Copeland said in a news release.
Lundeen has been a life-long support of the local communities. He has held many positions within St. John’s Lutheran Church and was a huge supporter of renovations at the church. He was the LaSalle County Ag in the Classroom organizer and assisted in raising funds through their annual golf outing.
Lundeen, along with his wife, Toni, have put in many hours raising awareness and funds for Foods Resource Bank and they have traveled overseas to visit some of the areas that have benefited from the organization.
Lundeen has been a board member, including treasurer, of Fox Valley Older Adults for many years. He has spent countless hours making a difference in the Somonauk and Sandwich communities and worldwide.
Lundeen received $100 Visa gift card and a “Heart” award.
“What a great way to top off our business after-hours evening,” Theresa Jennings, retail support manager for Heartland Bank, said in the release. “Presenting our Heart of Our Community award and recognizing this deserving person was absolutely my favorite part of the night, Jerry is very deserving. Keeping community in banking is what Heartland Bank and Trust Co. is all about.”
