Open Roads ABATE of IL Chapter sponsored a summer book run this summer. The book run consisted of 50 businesses and places of interest located from Route 47 to the Mississippi River and I-80 to the Wisconsin state line.

The object of the book run was for participants to travel and patronize all the businesses, get the books stamped, and to attend a post party on Oct. 6. The winners of the book run were drawn at the party. The third-place cash prize winner was Patti Smith, second-place winner was Cherie Mauer, and the first-place winner was Bob Mauer. A total of $750 was given to the winners and $750 will be donated to ABATE of IL Inc. for Safety and Education programs and Open Roads for local programs.

In addition to the cash winners, nine people were presented plaques for collecting stamps from every business in the book: Cliff Oleson, Frank Lorang, Judy and Mitch Busch, Merrie and Larry Zastresek, Fred Chaffer, Rob Halvax and Sean Winkler.

Due to the success of these books, there will be a 2019 summer book. For more information, call Linda at 630-552-3828.
