The Tri-County Kiwanis Club’s eighth annual coat drive is underway. It will run through Dec. 1.

The club seeks new or gently used coats, hats, gloves, mittens, scarves and blankets. While all of the items find a grateful recipient, the greatest need is for children’s coats, especially ages 6 to 13.

Program chairwoman Sandy Gustafson said the community has been very generous over the past seven years and is confident that this year will be another success.

Drop-off boxes are at Art’s Food Market, First National Bank, Heartland Bank (Somonauk, Sandwich and Gletty Road locations), Midland States Bank (Sandwich and Plano), Country Companies Insurance (Kathy Martin), Dr. Mark Weinhold’s dental office, Rural King and RKA Gun Gallery in Plano.

The club serves the Somonauk, Plano and Sandwich areas. It is open to anyone who would like to help improve the community.
