Sandwich Chapter FO of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and Redbud Creek Farm will host a Fall Garden Tour and Craft Show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 22, rain or shine. The tour will feature four gardens – three in Millbrook and one in Sandwich.

Tickets cost $10. They may be purchased from P.E.O. members, at Redbud Creek Farm, 2930N 4351st Road in Sheridan, and at each of the following gardens on tour day: Rettig, 821 S. Main St. in Sandwich; Mueller, 9050 Stonewall Drive in Millbrook; Harris, 9105 N. Stonewall Drive in Millbrook; and Hursthouse, 15710 Hoods Circle in Millbrook.

Unique plants (10 percent off on tour day), gift items and a variety of crafts will be for sale at Redbud Creek Farm. A homemade lunch and dessert also will be available at Redbud Creek Farm from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information or tickets, call 815-509-3520.

The Rettig garden features a variety of items throughout the property making the property unique: large rocks from a family farm, bricks salvaged from old streets of Sandwich, an authentic old whiskey barrel rain barrel, a Youngstown kitchen sink, imaginative uses for old barn and house materials and appliances. Beautifully tended lawns and colorful clusters of flowers accent the areas. Rather than a sandbox, the grandchildren’s play area features a “dirt box” where tiny gardeners plant to their hearts’ content.

P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) will use the proceeds from the Garden Tour to fund scholarships, grants, awards and loans to help women enhance their lives through learning. Annual donations also given to several local agencies.
