Car Show and BBQ Dinner

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at Newark American Legion Post 459, 606 Fennel Road. The dinner will be served from noon to 3 p.m. and cost $10 for adults and $5 for children. Drawings will be held for a 50/50 raffle and gift cards worth $500 including oil changes, car washes, restaurant certificates, and a concealed carry course. Superfest Book Sale

Through Saturday, Sept. 1, at the Plano Community Library, 15 W. North St. The Friends of the Library Book Sale will be held in the meeting room during regular library hours. All items will be sold for $4 a bag, and VHS tapes and audio cassettes will be free.

New Life for Old Bags

North St. Volunteers turn discarded plastic shopping bags into plastic yarn to be crocheted into sleeping mats for the homeless. Donations of plastic bags can be left at the library. Creating Plano’s Photo History Book
