The Plano Historical Society became a part of the Smallville Superfest celebration held Aug. 17-19 on the historic business streets of Plano.

The Plano Historical Society tent was filled with memories of school days, trophies of past parades, bearded men from the Centennial and pictures of groups of workers needing names, church picture books, and a church recipe book, among other artifacts.

Picture calendars were on sale at a discount. Many local merchants helped sell the calendars.

This was the historical society’s first fundraiser.

The group would like to display the many artifacts, pictures, books and documents that are donated to preserve Plano’s history for future generations, but help is needed to make a permanent building possible.

The group’s next meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the library, 15 W. North St., Plano.
