Superfest Book Sale

Through Saturday, Sept. 1, at the Plano Community Library, 15 W. North St. The Friends of the Library Book Sale will be held in the meeting room during regular library hours. Beginning on Aug. 25 all items will be sold for $4 a bag, and VHS tapes and audio cassettes will be free.

American Legion Auxiliary Membership Meeting

New Life for Old Bags

10:30 a.m. to noon the second Saturday of each month – next, Sept. 8 – at the Plano Community Library, 15 W. North St. Volunteers turn discarded plastic shopping bags into plastic yarn to be crocheted into sleeping mats for the homeless. Donations of plastic bags can be left at the library. Independent Storytime for 3’s, 4’s and 5’s

Creating Plano’s Photo History Book

North St. Anne Sears and Jeanne Valentine, authors of “Images of America: Plano” (Arcadia Publishing), will discuss and present a slideshow about the challenges and local history discoveries of planning and publishing their 2012 photo history book. American Legion Fish Fries

The Aug. 31 special is smoked sausage, sauerkraut and red potatoes and includes the salad bar.

On Sept. 7, the post will be closed for the fair.
