Give DeKalb County raises more than $600K

SYCAMORE – Donors gave about $200,000 more in this year's Give DeKalb County event Thursday than they did last year.

More than 2,200 donors raised more than $613,000 for 91 nonprofit organizations, according to the event's website. That includes both online and walk-in donations, which people could make Thursday at the DeKalb County Community Foundation, 475 DeKalb Ave.

Hope Haven of DeKalb County received the most money from this year's event at more than $41,000, according to the website. Safe Passage brought in the most donors this time, with 216 people giving more than $26,000.

Ben Bingle, director of the DeKalb County nonprofit partnership for the DeKalb County Community Foundation, said more than $465,000 was donated to more than 80 organizations during last year's Give DeKalb County event. He said this year's event outpaced last year's in every aspect by Thursday afternoon.
