5:15 p.m. reception, 6 p.m. dinner Tuesday, May 15, at Grandma’s Table Restaurant, 1700 Douglas Road. Dinner includes a choice of three entrées (fish, chicken or beef), soup or salad, dinner rolls, vegetables, dessert and nonalcoholic drink. Cost is $20. A lower cost salad entrée can be purchased for $12. The speaker will be Timothy W. Jones, assistant special agent in charge  of the Chicago Field Division of the Federal Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearm (ATF) Agency. He will present “More CSI Chicago: The ATF Chicago Crime Gun Strike Force.”

Oil Changes for Single Moms

Saturday, May 12, at Plano Christian Church, 9 Schomer Lane. Free event offered to all single mothers with children ages newborn through 18 years old. Register online at planochristian.org with the make, model, year, engine cylinder size and engine liter size of the vehicle.

New Life for Old Bags

10:30 a.m. to noon the second Saturday of each month – next, May 12 – at the Plano Community Library, 15 W. North St. Volunteers turn discarded plastic shopping bags into plastic yarn to be crocheted into sleeping mats for the homeless. Donations of plastic bags can be left at the library. Rummage Sale

8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 5, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 2465 W. Sandwich Road. Donations can be dropped off May 1 to 3 at church during office hours. Call to be sure church is open. Donations need to be in clean, good repair. No TVs, computers or other electronics.

FVOAS Spring Gala

5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at the Fox Valley Community Center, 1406 Suydam Road. The $60 ticket benefits Fox Valley Older Adult Services and includes hors d’oeuvres, dessert buffet and entertainment provided by Red Horse. This year’s theme is a garden party. Stone Mill Museum Hours

1 to 4 p.m. Sundays at the Stone Mill Museum, 315 E. Railroad St. The museum is filled with is filled with local memorabilia, settings of rooms with antique furniture, farm tools and items that were manufactured locally. Members of the Sandwich Historical Society act as hosts, guiding visitors to areas of special interest. No admission, however donations are appreciated.
