Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 19, to pick out prime plants and pick up helpful hints, all for your garden.
The annual Kendall County Master Gardener Plant Sale is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the University of Illinois Extension office in Yorkville. Master Gardeners will provide free presentations and demonstrations on popular home gardening topics, including:
• 9:30 a.m. – “Herb Container Gardening” with Gloria White of Oswego.
• 10 a.m. – “What To Do With All That Zucchini” with Nann Armstrong of Oswego.
• 10:30 a.m. – “Propagating Plant Cuttings” with Linda Kopacz of Oswego.
The sale portion will include native, perennial and vegetable plants. The Master Gardener volunteers started more than 900 seedlings, including 14 varieties of tomatoes and 10 pepper varieties. There also will be gently used gardening books for sale. Payments may be made by cash or check.
The University of Illinois Extension office is located one mile south of the intersection of Route 71 and Route 47, at 7775B Illinois Route 47 in Yorkville.
Kendall County Master Gardeners also answer homeowner gardening and lawn care questions through the Help Desk, which is open from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Extension office or by calling 630-553-5823.
