To the Editor:
The music was good last Sunday at the Sandwich Opera House, but the highlights were the farewell thanks and tributes to the director, Richard Hart. It was his final concert, though he will come back in the fall to play trombone. Just think, four of his students from 40 years ago came and sang their favorite barbershop number. We also enjoyed Mr. Hart’s story of his musical history.
There are about 38 volunteer musicians in the Indian Valley Community Band (they come from many communities) and we are indeed blessed for their musical talents and their preparation time. Some are recent grads, others have picked up their instruments after years without. A love of music unites them. One of the tributes was an appreciation for the welcome they all felt in joining the band.
