The Chapel on the Green.

The Chapel on the Green in Yorkville will have its annual meeting on Wednesday, April 25, at 7 p.m.

Following the election of officers and a short business meeting, organist Mark Mackeben of Yorkville will present a program on the Chapel's 1899 Hinner organ.  It is used throughout the year for weddings and other events. Makeben's presentation will include a history and narrative about the organ along with his playing several pieces that demonstrates the organ’s capabilities. He  is music director at a local Kendall County church and is in the business of repairing and restoring vintage organs.

The Chapel was recently placed on the National Register of Historic Places in the United States, and is the oldest church building still in use in Kendall County. The Chapel on the Green Historical Society’s main purpose is the care and preservation of the structure.

The meeting is open to the public and there is no charge, however donations to the preservation to the building are always appreciated.

For further information, call Howard Manthei at 630-553-6287. The Chapel is located at 107 W. Center Street in Yorkville (across from the town square).
