Sandwich Lions plan scholarship drawdown

The 19th annual Sandwich Lions Club Lou Brady Memorial Scholarship Drawdown is set for 6:30 p.m. April 27 at the Fox Valley Community Center, 1406 Suydam Road, Sandwich.

The Lou Brady Memorial Scholarship was established in 2000 to honor the late Louis P. Brady. Brady was a charter member of the Sandwich Lions Club and a prominent member of the Sandwich business community with strong ties to education.

Two $2,000 scholarships are awarded annually to graduating seniors of Sandwich Community High School, one to a boy and one to a girl. To date, about $75,000 has been awarded, funded entirely by the proceeds of the drawdown.

The public is invited to participate. For a donation of $30, the ticket-holder is entitled to admission to the event and entry into the drawing. The evening also features a catered dinner to be served at 7:15 p.m. (included in the price of the ticket), cash bar, silent auctions and raffles. Sales are limited to 250 tickets.

Prizes are $50 for the first ticket drawn, $35 for every 10th ticket drawn, $75 for every 50th ticket drawn, $100 for the third-to-last and second-to-last tickets drawn, and the grand prize of $1,000 for the last ticket drawn. Winners need not be present.

Tickets are available from any Sandwich Lions Club member or may be purchased at Leo’s Trophies, 16 E. Railroad St., Sandwich. For further ticket information, call Leo Sondgeroth at 815-786-2647 or Gary Lemke at 630-360-7611.
