The Sandwich Park District has a vacancy on its board of directors.
Sandwich Park District board members, called commissioners, are elected in the spring elections every two years – next in 2019. This position is a volunteer role and is unpaid. The purpose of the Sandwich Park District board is to develop official policies of the park district and to oversee all activities carried out by its director and other staff.
One stipulation on board membership is that any candidate must be a registered voter living within the Sandwich city limits (because the park district boundaries are the same as the city's).
Any community member who might be interested in being appointed to fill the open spot is encouraged to contact the park district at 815-786-8044 or any current board member listed on www.sandwichparkdistrict.org. It would be expected that the candidate would provide a resume in advance for board review and that the candidate would attend at least one meeting before being appointed.
The board meets at 6:30 p.m., usually on the second Wednesday of each month, and any interested parties are welcome to attend a meeting to see what business is conducted. Call the office or check the website to confirm meeting dates and times.
