Sheriff's association scholarship entries being accepted

SYCAMORE – Planning on college next year? DeKalb County Sheriff Roger Scott announced the Illinois Sheriff's Association will award more than 100 scholarships throughout the state, included one to a DeKalb County student.

Applications are available at the sheriff's office or the ISA website at www.ilsheriff.org. Students complete the application, answer the essay question and return all documentation to DeKalb County Sheriff's Office at 150 N. Main St., Sycamore.

The $500 award can be used toward tuition, books and fees at any institute of higher learning in Illinois. The winning entry will be chosen by a committee made up of residents and educational professionals.

This year's essay question is: "How is law enforcement perceived in your area? What, in your opinion, is the best way to improve law enforcement relations within your community?"

For information, call the sheriff's office at 815-895-7260.
