To the Editor:
I’d like to thank Northwest Medicine’s Valley West Hospital in Sandwich and Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb for their outstanding service when they took care of my son, Kendyl, in early November. Their facilities with skilled physicians, specialists, nurses and other staff members were wonderful. I also want to thank our extended family members and friends for their constant prayers, assistance and understanding. It seems a miracle that Kendyl’s home and doing so well.
Finally, I want to express my appreciation for Sandwich’s forefathers and mothers who worked hard to establish healthcare facilities in our hometown.
Its history starts with a physician who had a few beds for patients in his offices downtown, then Woodward Memorial Hospital, followed by Sandwich Community Hospital (with several additions) before it became Valley West Community Hospital.
Now it’s the newer and improved Northwest Medicine’s Valley West Hospital with expanded, talented emergency services, outstanding in-patient facilities, an award-winning obstetrics department and top-notch outpatient departments close to home where we feel welcome.
