The Sandwich Community Fund received a Proclamation from Mayor Richard Olson declaring January 2017 as Sandwich Community Fund Month in the City of Sandwich.

The Sandwich Community Fund is an organization established in 1960 that has quietly supported the most vulnerable people in the community. Each year the group has requests for more assistance than they can fund.

A few recipients of the Sandwich Community Fund’s time and collected donations are:

• Cornerstone Food Pantry, Harvest Chapel Food Pantry and Our Sharing Pantry are three food panties that provide food and toiletries to more than 10,000 people each month.

• Girl Scouts, DeKalb County Youth Service Bureau, Safe Passage and the Family Service Agency are organizations that specifically mentor youth in the community.

• Fox Valley Older Adults, Voluntary Action Center, American Legion Post 181 Auxiliary and Open Door Rehabilitation facilities are organizations that are strongly supported because of the care they provide to veterans, the elderly, the mentally and physically disabled, and to those who have given so much in the past, but have largely been forgotten in today’s society.

Donations are welcome throughout the year. They can be sent to Sandwich Community Fund, P.O. Box 13, Sandwich, IL 60548.
