Sandwich Youth Forum held

A group of local teens met with Sandwich Park District and city of Sandwich officials on Nov. 21 at the first Youth Forum, sponsored by the park district. The forum provides an opportunity for local youth to meet, discuss and dream about programs, services and facilities they would like to see within the community. Topics ranged from laser tag facilities to LGBTQ programs and groups. Anti-bully programs came up, as did a job shadowing program from the chamber. Those in attendance included Mayor Rich Robinson, chamber director Geri Benning, park district staffers Bill Novicki and Candace Kissel and board member Diane Scents, and middle school teacher Mike Butler. The park district will meet with youth again on next steps. For more information on youth programs, call the Sandwich Park District at 815-786-8044.
