Fines for Food

Through November at the Plano Community Library, 15 W. North St. Pay your fines by making a donation (minimum $1) to the Plano Rockin’ Christmas program, which distributes food boxes to local families in need. The funds will be used to purchase perishable food items such as meat, produce, milk and butter.

Christmas Sale

Holiday Food Drive

Through Dec. 16 at the Sandwich Public Library, 925 S. Main St. The library is collecting donations for the Franklin Mall Christmas Project. Sponsored by the Sandwich Lions Club, the program collects food for families in the Sandwich school system. Acceptable donations include nonperishable boxed/canned goods, peanut butter, jelly, canned meats, soups and cereals. Call the library at 815-786-8308 with questions.

The Recycling Hour

Noon to 1 p.m. the fourth Saturday of the month – next, Nov. 23 – at the Sandwich Public Library, 925 S. Main St. The library will recycle items such as plastic bags, ink cartridges, batteries and more.

Community Thanksgiving Service

6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at The Federated Church, 403 N. Main St. Service will feature local pastors and choirs coming together to worship, sing praises and give thanks. Attendees are asked to bring canned goods for donation to the Franklin Mall Christmas Project.

Fines for Food

Through Dec. 20 at the Somonauk Public Library, 700 E. LaSalle St. Nonperishable canned and boxed food can be donated to receive $1 off fines per item. Limit of 20 items for $20. Food items given to local churches and food pantries in Somonauk and Sandwich. Food must not have expired labels.

Author Visit
