The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Kendall and Southern Kane County provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP is seeking volunteers for the following opportunities:
Transportation Drivers: Have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle? Using your own car, pick up seniors and drive them to/from medical and dental appointments. This opportunity is very flexible; only accept assignments that work for your schedule and location. Transportation is an enormous issue for many seniors; provide real help as a driver and enjoy the interaction and conversation.
Volunteer Court Greeters: Volunteer a couple of hours in the morning (normally 8 to 10 a.m.) or afternoon (normally 12:30 to 2 p.m.); flexible week days. Volunteers will be serving as a greeter which includes directing people to the correct courtroom per the docket listing. Volunteers should be outgoing and friendly and have a little understanding of the court process. Need to be able to read and interpret information on the docket to guide visitors. Due to the court environment, volunteers will have to sign a Volunteer Agreement, Confidentiality Agreement and a Waiver & Release before any volunteer services.
If you are interested in giving back to the community through RSVP, contact Deborah Lee Sheppard at firstname.lastname@example.org or 630-553-5777.
